Benetti is one of Italy's most storied shipyards, building custom and semi-custom superyachts from around 34 metres to over 100 metres. With shipyards in Viareggio and Livorno on the Tuscan coast, the yard is part of the Azimut|Benetti Group, and its yachts are renowned for elegant Italian design and meticulous attention to craftsmanship.
Founded in 1873, when Lorenzo Benetti purchased the Cantiere Darsena Lucca, the shipyard began as a builder of sailing vessels, launching more than 30 of them over the following decades. Its first steel-hulled diesel vessel, Maria, followed in 1941, and from 1961 the yard turned to steel luxury motor yachts. The acquisition of Benetti by Paolo Vitelli in 1985 marked the formation of the Azimut|Benetti Group and ushered in an era of rapid growth.
Benetti has delivered some of the most recognisable superyachts afloat, including the 107-metre Luminosity, the 108-metre IJE and the 90-metre Lionheart. The yard celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2023, counts five gigayachts and more than 420 yachts built since 1985, and expanded its large-yacht capacity with the acquisition of the Fratelli Orlando shipyard in Livorno in 2003.
For owners seeking a distinctly Italian superyacht, Benetti represents the intersection of heritage craftsmanship and contemporary design. Its current range spans eight yacht families, from the Oasis and B.Neos lines through to fully custom projects, offering a route from semi-custom builds to one-off flagships.
